Aharon Hauptman, Israel

PROFILE SUMMARY

Dr. Hauptman studied Engineering at the Technion (the Israel Institute of Technology) and earned M.Sc and Ph.D degrees from the faculty of Engineering at Tel-Aviv University. He specializes in Technology & Society Foresight and in the evaluation of impacts of emerging technologies on society, including related Wild Cards. During many years of research at Tel-Aviv University he has been involved in numerous Foresight studies within projects for the European Union, such as future developments in Nanobiotechnology, threat scenarios posed by the “dark side” of emerging technologies, wild cards related to future innovations in general and in the transportation field in particular, the impact of new technologies on privacy, and more. He is the chairman of the Israeli node of the Millennium Project, a fellow of the Zvi Meitar Institute for Social and Legal Implications of Emerging Technologies at IDC Herzliya, and a lecturer in Technology Foresight at the Israel Academic College in Ramat-Gan.

Theodore J. Gordon, USA

PROFILE SUMMARY

Theodore Jay Gordon is a specialist in forecasting methodology, planning, and policy analysis, an entrepreneur, and an inventor. He is co-founder and Board member of The Millennium Project, a global think tank. He performed early research on the Delphi method at RAND Corporation where he was a consultant to their mathematics and policy department and he co-authored the first large scale Delphi study (Gordon and Helmer, 1964). He is one of the co-founders of The Institute for the Future. He also founded the Futures Group (now part of the Palladium Corp) and led it for 20 years. He has been at the forefront of development of forecasting methodology including the development of the Cross Impact Method, Trend Impact Analysis, implications of non linear modeling (chaos) for forecasting, the State of the Future Index (SOFI) (a means for measuring and forecasting the changing outlook of the future), and in the development and application of Real Time Delphi. He is co-author of a new book on counterfactual analysis published in 2019, and another on potential “tripping points” in dealing with terrorism is scheduled for 2020. He was Chief Engineer of the McDonnell Douglas Saturn S-IV (upper stage of the Apollo lunar vehicle) and director of Advanced Space Stations and Planetary Systems. In addition, he is the author of many professional papers and consulting assignments. He was also in charge of the launch of early ballistic missiles and space vehicles from Cape Canaveral. Mr. Gordon holds several patents in space vehicles, acoustics, automated collection of voter judgments and speech recognition. His degrees are in aeronautical engineering from Louisiana State University and Georgia Institute of Technology. He is a pilot and still flies his light sport airplane.

Carlos Scheel, Mexico

Director, Research Chair: Sustainable Wealth creation by Innovation and enabling Technologies at the EGADE Business School.

Since 1986, he has been International Consultant for Technical Cooperation in Technological Development and Industrial Policy at UNIDO (United Nations for Industrial Development, Vienna), UNEP (UN for Environmental Program) as well as several projects sponsored by PNUD, USAID, World Bank (WB), IDB (BID) and other regional agencies on 15 countries, as well as fellow member of the IC2 Institute of the University of Texas.

Since 2007, he is currently working on the SWIT framework (Sustainable Wealth creation based on disruptive Innovation and enabling Technologies) as the result of the research and train of PhD specialists, Master students, entrepreneurs, and practitioners. Platform designed from a system-centered innovation perspective for the creation of sustainable wealth, mainly for developing regions.

The SWIT model includes the design of circular economy and industrial ecology concepts for the implementation of sustainable strategies for the assembling of extended Circular Value eco-Systems; for the circularization of environment, social and economic systems.

As result of this research and development program, a disruptive, systemic, circular and democratic innovation approach have been applied toward a viable regional sustainability, on more than 30 international projects in 13 countries.

Andy Van Schaack, USA

PROFILE SUMMARY

Dr. Andy Van Schaack is a professor at Vanderbilt University with appointments in the Peabody College of Education and the School of Engineering. He teaches courses in social science research methods, organizational psychology, judgment and analytic-reasoning, and technology forecasting. His research focuses on the development and assessment of technologies that make teaching and learning more effective, efficient, and accessible. Early in his career, Dr. Van Schaack worked for Apple in Cupertino, California and Tokyo, Japan. More recently, he founded and served as Chief Scientist for several technology companies including Cerego of San Francisco, California and Livescribe of Oakland, California. He has earned 15 patents (granted and pending) for inventions related to adaptive learning systems and digital pens technologies. As the Associate Dean for Online Programs at Peabody College, he was responsible for launching Vanderbilt University’s first two online graduate degree programs. In 2017, he was the recipient of the Madison Sarratt Prize for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching (Vanderbilt University’s teacher of the year award). In 2018 he was named an honorary midshipman by the Vanderbilt University Naval ROTC unit. Dr. Van Schaack holds a bachelor’s degree in instructional psychology and a doctorate in instructional technology from Utah State University.
